If you wish to apply for an Austrian passport, please book an appointment online via the

Please make sure that you book your appointment under the correct category so that your
application can be accepted. Furthermore, please be aware that every applicant will need
their own appointment.
The application must be made in person; all applicants including children and newborns
must be present at the Embassy when applying for a passport. Verification of identity,
fingerprinting and a signature in front of the government authority are mandatory.
The following original documents are required:
your current passport (or if lost/stolen, a Lost-/Theft Police Report)
Birth certificate (British certificates long version with Apostille, documents from
other countries see "Related links": Authentication/Legalisation)
Proof of Austrian citizenship (Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis)
Marriage certificate and/or divorce decree if applicable (British certificates with
Apostille, documents from other countries see "Related links":
Authentication/Legalisation)
Proof of residence (e.g. electricity/gas bill; not older than 3 months)
Proof of legal residence in the UK (e.g. residence permit, proof of pre-/settled status,
British/Irish passport, visa)
1 new passport photograph, not older than 6 months, according to EU-criteria for
Passport-photographs
Filled out Affidavit Adult (see attached or download from our website)
Filled out Application form (see attached or download from our website)

Additional documents for children younger than 18 years and first-time applications:
Passports of both parents
Birth certificates of parents (British certificates with Apostille)
Proof of Austrian citizenship (Staatsrgerschaftsnachweis) of child (or of parents
for first application)
Marriage certificate of parents if married (British certificates with Apostille)
Proof of custody (residence order) of parents if divorced

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bring photocopies from both sides (if needed) of each document in
A4, so that the appointment can run efficiently.
The processing time of your application, once all necessary documents have been received,
is currently two to three weeks. Your passport may be sent to your home address if you
wish.
You can apply for an Austrian ID Card at the same time.

Furthermore, we would like to point out that we only accept debit card payments and are
unable to accept credit cards and American Express cards.
In order to ensure a smooth running of the application process on the day of your
appointment, we would kindly ask you to arrive on time together with your completed
application forms and all required documents.
Please note that your passport photograph must be taken by a professional photographer
and cannot be “home-made”. If the photograph you provide does not meet the EU-
Passport requirements, then we will not be able to process your application.
We ask for your understanding that applications without prior appointment will not be
accepted and that you follow the instructions of our security personnel.
