Embark upon your journey to the lands of ancient
treasures and Christian history with an overnight flight to
Athens/Thessaloniki. Prepare yourself for a life-changing
experience and get some rest on the flight. Tomorrow
we will be walking in the Greek world that the Apostle
Paul knew. The world and culture of the New Testament
are about to come alive!
Day 2 – Saturday, June 28: Athens, Thessaloniki
We arrive in Athens for flight to Thessaloniki. We stay in
Thessaloniki, the city where Paul was received by Jason.
Paul preached the Word of God here until he was rushed
out of the city. Transfer to our hotel for check-in, dinner,
and a well-deserved rest.
Day 3 – Sunday, June 29: Neapolis, Philippi,
Thessaloniki
In the morning, we follow the route of the Via Egnatia
to Kavala (ancient Neapolis), Paul’s first stop in bringing
the gospel to present day Europe. Next, we travel to
ancient ruins of Philippi where we visit the Baptistery of
Lydia near the river where Paul baptized her and enjoy a
special Baptismal remembrance service here. Lydia was
the first convert of Paul on European soil, followed by
the jailer (Acts 16). We also visit the ruins of the Forum of
Philippi, the “Prison of Paul,” and the Theater. We return
to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Monday, June 30: Thessaloniki, Berea
This morning, we tour ancient Thessaloniki, where we’ll
explore the modest ruins of the city where the church
received two of Apostle Paul’s epistles on his second
missionary journey. We’ll walk through the Archeological
Museum and also see highlights from the city, including
the Church of St. Demetrios, the White Tower, and the
statue of Alexander the Great. After lunch (not included),
we’ll follow Paul’s journey south to biblical Berea (Acts
17:10-13) where its inhabitants examined the Word to
see if Paul’s words were true. Dinner and overnight in
Thessaloniki.
Day 5 – Tuesday, July 1: Athens
Late this morning we board our short flight to Athens,
where we’ll walk beneath Hadrian’s Arch and see the
ruins of the massive Temple of Zeus. As our bus tour
continues, we also see Constitution Square with the
House of Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier, the Old Olympic Stadium, and the Neoclassical
Buildings of Athens. Enjoy some free time in the late
afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
Day 6 – Wednesday, July 2: Athens, Acropolis,
Parthenon, Mars Hill
Today we’ll admire the architectural wonders of ancient
Athens as we explore the world-renowned Acropolis and
see the Propylea, the Erechtheum, and the Parthenon.
We will also visit the newly renovated Acropolis Museum.
We visit Mars Hill, where Paul delivered his sermon on the
“Unknown God.” We’ll see the Agora, the ancient center
of the economic and public life of the city. Dinner and
overnight are in Athens.
Day 7 – Thursday, July 3: Corinth, Cenchreae
This morning, we drive to ancient Corinth with a stop
at the amazing Corinthian Canal, as well as its ancient
solution, the Diolkos. Corinth is where Paul met Aquilla
and Priscilla and spent a year and a half on his second
missionary journey. We will see the Archaeological
Museum, the Forum, the Temple, the famous Bema
(where Paul stood before Gallio), and the breathtaking
Acrocorinth. Then we drive to Cenchreae, the harbor
from which Paul sailed back to Asia, thus ending his
second missionary journey. Dinner and overnight are in
Athens.
Day 8 – Friday, July 4: Start our 3-Night
Mediterranean Cruise, Mykonos
Let’s cruise! After a leisurely morning, we sail this
afternoon from Athens to the quaint isle of Mykonos,
called the island of windmills. This afternoon, we’ll have
an opportunity to imagine and study the missionary
journeys of the Apostle Paul across the Mediterranean.
After disembarking on Mykonos, we’ll have some free
time to experience the waterfront lined with shops and
cafes. We stroll the charming walkways through a maze
of white-washed buildings before returning to the ship
for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 – Saturday, July 5: Ephesus, Patmos
In the morning, we arrive in Kusadasi, Turkey. A short
drive takes us to the amazing ruins of ancient Ephesus,
where Paul spent three years during his ministry. The
impressive remains of Ephesus include the Agora, the
Theater, the Stadium, the Library of Celsus, the ruins of
the Temple of Artemis (one of the “Seven Wonders of
the Ancient World”) and much more. We’ll plan a special
communion service in the shadow of the stadium where
the riot broke out (Acts 19) against the Apostle Paul’s
teaching about Christ. After seeing where the Apostle
John was buried at the Basilica of St. John, we’ll have the
option to visit a Turkish rug shop. This afternoon we’ll sail
to the island of Patmos, where we tour the Grotto of the
Apocalypse, where tradition says Apostle John wrote the
book of Revelation. We’ll also see the Chapel of Elijah,
the island’s highest point. Dinner and overnight aboard
the ship.
Day 10 – Sunday, July 6: Crete, Santorini
In the morning, we arrive at Heraklion on the island of
Crete. We’ll drive south to the Basilica of Titus in Gortyn
and read Paul’s words written to Titus in Crete. Then

on his way to Rome. In the afternoon, we cruise to the
picturesque island of Santorini, where we explore and
shop at our leisure on one of the most breathtaking of all
the Greek islands. Overnight aboard the ship.
Day 11 – Monday, July 7: Piraeus, Homeward Bound

Day 11 – Monday, July 7: Arrive in Istanbul
This morning we fly from Athens to Istanbul Airport, meet our guide in
the arrival hall and begin our tour of the historical highlights of Istanbul.
First, we stroll through Hippodrome Square, the former sporting and social
center of Constantinople that hosted chariot races during the Roman
period. Afterwards, we witness the incredible majesty and splendor of the
Sultan Ahmet Mosque. Popularly known as the Blue Mosque, this 17th
century Ottoman sanctuary is adorned with six minarets and more than
20,000 hand-painted Iznik tiles. And then we will walk directly across from
the mosque to visit the domed masterpiece of the Hagia Sophia before
we head to Topkapi Palace. Located on the very cape of the peninsula
where Constantinople was founded, Topkapi Palace is the former abode
of Ottoman Sultans that still houses their legion of treasures, including
an extensive collection of royal jewels. Then we will end our day with an
evening of shopping at the Grand Bazaar, the massive covered market

products, and many other handcrafted souvenirs. Dinner and overnight are
in Istanbul.
Day 12 – Tuesday, July 8: Istanbul, Pergamum, Izmir
After breakfast, we drive to Akhisar through the new bridge and visit
Thyatira, a church praised for its increasing faith but criticized for its
tolerance of Jezebel (Rev. 2:18-28). Then we continue to the town of
Bergama to visit Pergamum, one of the most powerful cities in the ancient
world. We will tour the Acropolis which sits atop a 1000-foot windswept
mountain, oering a view of the neighboring modern towns, the azure
waters of the Aegean, and the ruins of Pergamum that cascade down from
the ancient city center. Here, we will explore the Temple of Trajan, Temple
of Athena, and the Altar of Zeus. We finish our day by continuing to Izmir
for dinner and overnight.
Day 13 – Wednesday, July 9: Izmir, Pamukkale
After breakfast, we have a tour of Izmir (Smyrna), a city established in
3,000 B.C. This was one of the Seven Churches which John referred to as
the poor, persecuted church that God announced was rich (Rev. 2:8-11).
Afterwards, we travel to Sart (Sardis), the church with a reputation for being
alive, but God announced that it was dead (Rev. 3:1-6). Then we continue
to Alasehir (Philadelphia), the church which received God’s highest
commendation (Rev. 3:7-13). We then arrive in Pamukkale, home to the
spectacular hot springs. We have a visit in the nearby ruins of Hierapolis, an
important seat of early Christianity. Dinner and overnight are in Pamukkale.
Day 14 – Thursday, July 10: Pamukkale, Istanbul
We depart from our hotel and visit the ancient city and church of Laodecia
where Apostle John chastised the inhabitants for being lukewarm (Rev.
3:14-22). Then we drive to Denizli Airport and fly to Istanbul. Upon arrival
at Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul, we will drive to our hotel for our
farewell dinner and closing service.
Day 15 – Friday, July 11: Istanbul Airport, Home
After breakfast, we drive to Istanbul Airport for our return flight back to the
U.S.A. We return home full of life changing memories, having walked in the
footsteps of the early Christians.
