James Coffman
is a highly accomplished registered landscape architect whose experience mixes over
30 years of environmentally conscious and sustainable, public and private sector planning and
landscape architecture work with over 12 years of teaching at Arizona State University and University
of Arkansas. James’ professional design and planning work has been recognized with awards by the
American Planning Association, Arizona Chapter and the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of
Landscape Architects (AZASLA). James is a co-author of the “Equestrian Design Guidebook for Trails,
Trailheads, and Campgrounds”. The AZASLA has honored James with the 2012 AZ Landscape Architect of
the Year and the 2014 Educator of the Year. He is their Past-President and Past-Trustee. James is a
passionate teacher, always sharing with students lessons in landscape architecture based on his varied
professional and service experience.
