Film Bazaar 2016
In a world rapidly being torn asunder by violence, division, racism and
suspicion, there is a growing despondence and a feeling that almost
all of humanity is at cross-purposes and most of it at war. There is
a dire need for reassurance that not all is lost and the fundamental
goodness of humanity is still intact. There ought to be more stories
that reinforce our faith in each other rather than that mythical messiah
who might never arrive to save us.
Seen through the eyes of an innocent, but typical 21st century Indian
child born of an inter-religion marriage, A Billion Colour Story is a
simple tale, told with a complete absence of frills.
N. Padmakumar (Paddy) quit
a career in the uppermost
echelons of Indian Advt., as
National Creative Director of
Rediffusion Y&R in 2012, to
pursue lm making. Paddy is a
poet, writer and photographer,
considers himself a ‘Momenteer’,
an Interpreter. An idealist, and
an eternal optimist, his stories
aspire to build bridges across
differences, small and big.

In a career spanning over fty years, Krishen Khanna (90) has
established himself as one of the most prolic and inuential painters
in the Indian art landscape. A Far Afternoon is a lmmaker’s attempt
to memorialize the artistic process involved in the creation of the
eponymous art work. It is obvious, the piece has been inuenced by
memories collected over time, discrete images lodged in the artist’s
mind and more nascent, less visible thoughts and ideas that dictate
the choice of gures and colours. The lm delves into those inuences
that eventually rendered themselves on canvas.

Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense – the short periods of time people
come in our lives or the outcomes from what they say or do. However
sometimes, if one lets things happen, one will denitely see the big
picture thereafter. This is a story of one such experience for Sadiq
Sheikh, who is at his lowest point in life because of his situation, when
he comes across Cyrus Irani. Cyrus compares his favourite dish, Akuri
to the philosophy of life and makes a simple dish look heroic. This
chance meeting changes Sadiq’s outlook and approach towards life.

Aloko Udapadi (Light Arose) is a story about the unswerving human
effort, to record for all time, a unique spiritual heritage. In 89 BC,
King Walagamba of Sri Lanka, was troubled by power-hungry forces
from within and from outside. A severe drought assailed the land for
twelve unbroken years. Monks who perpetuated Buddha’s word by
oral tradition, could not survive. The monks were troubled both by the
enemy and the famine. In peace and prosperity, the monks facing the
challenge wrote down the oral tradition. The Buddha’s compassionate
teaching became an irreducible component of the whole of human
culture.

regressive system, where powerful men exploit the women of the
lowest castes. A system of sexual exchange – a barter system – is
the unwritten tradition of the place. The men of the hamlet spend their
time inebriated and when the food and provisions run out, the women
are forcibly sent to the market place to sleep with the merchants for

A lm about desires and the yearning for the unattainable, Half Ticket
is a story of two slum kids in Mumbai. Weaving a story of myriad
relationships in the world of the Have Nots, Half Ticket interlaces the
story of the kids’ desires and a mother’s desire to bring her husband
back home and a low-rent thug’s desire for easy money. The lm also
metaphorically accounts the world of the ‘Haves’ and their desire for
the little things in lives that elude them and the desires invoked by
television, which teaches us to salivate over things we never knew
otherwise existed. In a world divided, the desires, explored through
the lm, showcase a world lled with expectations and aspirations —
an entry ticket to an Exclusive Club.

Appa do? If anything is dearest to the seess but self-righteous Appa,

When crime gets legitimized in the garb of tradition, there is nowhere
to go. Satyavati is a contemporary story where tenderness and
innocence comes under attack, and all that remains is a scar. And
nowhere to go.
A daughter’s lifestyle confronts a father’s love. He mistakenly thinks
she is a lesbian. Tradition meets non-conformance with rage. Rape to
correct appears as the uncanny solution.
Satyavati is a journey through the dark lanes of our draconian laws,
barbaric beliefs in corrective rape and honor killing.
Exposure to creativity in the
business world, inspired Deepthi

Branding & Advertising.
