HDFC Bank signed MoU with Himachal Pradesh government
 First-of-its-kind initiative to enable quick and easy payment of
Property tax through HDFC Bank’s Payment gateway
 HDFC Bank also enables booking hotel room and Volvo bus ticket
online
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), November 19, 2015: HDFC Bank signed MoU with the
Department of Urban Development, Department of Town & Country Planning of the state
of Himachal Pradesh and the state-run Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development
Corporation (HPTDC).
Going forward residents of Himachal Pradesh will be able to make their property tax
payments online in a quick and convenient manner. It will also allow people who have
moved out of the city to make their payments in a timely manner from the comfort of their
homes or offices and also book HPTDC hotel rooms using any debit card, credit card, or
netbanking facility.
As part of the MoU signed with the department of the Urban Development, the department
will use HDFC Bank payment gateway for online collection of House-Property Tax and
Water bills for all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state.
Similarly, the department of Town & Country Planning will use HDFC Bank Payment
gateway for online collection of fees and other receipts for all the planning areas in the
state.
As part of the MoU with the state’s Tourism Development Corporation, HDFC Bank will
provide Point-of-Sale terminals at hotels, Smartbuy for selling/hosting hotel room and
Volvo bus tickets, Payment gateway for making online booking, and PayZapp integration
with the mobile app of the HPTDC.
The service was officially launched today in the presence of Ms. Manisha Nanda,
Additional Chief Secretary, Capt. JM Pathania, Director - Urban Development, Mr.
Sandeep Kumar, Director - Town and Country Planning of the Himachal Pradesh
government and Mr. Navin Puri, Country Head - Branch Banking, HDFC Bank. Other
senior officials also present were Mr. Govind Pandey, Branch Banking Head - North,
HDFC Bank, and Mr. Harvinder Atma, Regional Head, HDFC Bank.
Speaking about the MoU with HDFC Bank, Ms. Manisha Nanda, IAS, Additional Chief
Secretary, Govt of Himachal Pradesh, said This initiative will help fast-track the payments
of all taxes including property tax and reduce the outstanding dues that have not been

paid on account of the inability of the tax-payer to physically make the payment. This is a
significant step in the evolution of payment of government taxes in the district.”
