GRANDSTAND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
This document is to give you general guidelines about procedures you have to
follow in case of an emergency within a grandstand area. These incidents are:
Fire
Structural failure
Suspect package
Medical emergency
EVACUATION
If an evacuation of a grandstand becomes necessary, make sure you follow these
steps:
Raise the visitor’s attention by standing to the top of the exit steps and
raise your arms
Be as loud as you can, use a loudhailer if you have one
Act and talk in a calm but direct manner
Point in the direction of escape
Walk with the last remaining people, give aid to people in need
FIRE
When discovering a fire:
Call control immediately, report the exact location of the fire.
Is there imminent danger to people?
Fire In front of the grandstand (bales)
As the fire might spread quicker than expected it is
important to act quickly.
By only using the exit staircase further away from the
fire calmly ask people to leave the grandstand and
direct them in a direction away from the fire and away
from the bales
Fire underneath the grandstand
By using all staircases calmly ask people to leave by
directing them away from the grandstand
Fire in the vicinity of the grandstand
Be prepared to evacuate the grandstand by using the
exit furthest away from the fire
In this incident the need for an evacuation will come
from the Joint Event Control.
Direct people in a direction away from the fire

A structural failure might be possible as the result of an accident such as an
impact from a vehicle.
