Represented the Rutgers School of Nursing to expand academic partnerships with the University of Havana, the
Cuban Health Ministry and non-profits to collaborate on multiple initiatives.
Health and Healthcare in the Brazilian Amazon, Program Director (2016, 2017). Developed and directed a
service learning abroad program in collaboration with NGO Amizade. Students traveled via boat to provide
health promotion and prevention to communities in remote riverine settlements.
Health and Healing in Guatemala Global Service Learning, Program Director (2015).
Assessing Perceptions and Determinants of Adolescent Health in a Brazilian Favela (PI, 2013-2015). Led a
multidisciplinary international research study with colleagues in public health (FASEH) and public policy
(Rutgers). Mentored medical students in qualitative, community based research.

learning program in collaboration with the NGO CCS. Students participated in community health initiatives in
the favelas, each designing and implementing individual health promotion projects.
