Bus Travel
UniRider
Stagecoach oer the UniRider student bus pass which allows
you to travel around Manchester on Stagecoach and Magic
Bus services at a much cheaper rate than a standard bus

Both coach companies oer fares from as lile as £1 – just
make sure you book in advance (Megabus ckets are
released for desnaons in waves, usually about a month
and a half before travel date, so keep checking back for later

Rail Travel
The 16-25 Railcard can reduce a standard rail fare by up to a

Mature Students can apply for the 16-25 Railcard if they
meet the following criteria:
Studying a course at the University for over 15 hours a
week, at least 20 weeks a year.
Have the mature student secon of the 16-25 Railcard

University Travel Awards
The University of Manchester oers 3 travel awards for
students wishing to travel either as part of their course or
during University vacaons. Applicaons can usually be
made between November and February/March (and cannot
be accepted at any other me during the year). Aer this
date, a panel will meet to determine awards and all
applicants will be contacted via email with the outcome:
Zochonis Special Enterprise Fund
Awards from the Zochonis Special Enterprise Fund will be
made to assist with the cost of a project or special study
which demonstrates enterprise or originality of thought in
planning and execuon. Group applicaons are also
accepted.
H.E. David Scholarship
The purpose of the H.E. David Scholarship is to foster
internaonal understanding and goodwill by enabling
students to travel and study in foreign countries. You can
apply if you have graduated within the last three years, or
if you are currently registered and have completed at
least two years of study. Group applicaons are also
accepted.
Pawel Koprowski Award
The purpose of the Pawel Koprowski Award is to support
your vacaon acvity. It may be used for a purpose which
will enhance your studies or for a holiday as long as this
does not include aendance on a course at another
university. You can apply if you are currently registered as
an undergraduate and have completed at least two years
of study.
You only need to apply to the one award you feel is most
appropriate. The panel assessing applicaons will sll
consider you for others if they feel your travel plans beer t

Careers Service Work Experience Bursary
The Careers Service Work Experience Bursary Scheme oers
assistance to students looking for work experience that isn’t
part of their course, but who are nding it nancially dicult
to take up the opportunity they really want. This can include
overseas work experience. The fund is open from September
to June each year (but may close sooner if funding has been
