Canteen
On Tuesday and Thursdays, students can order a selection of food and drinks through the Ultimate Schools App. Cody’s café
supplies healthy food options and understand the importance of food allergies and food intolerances. Parents can visit
www.ultimateschools.com.au and create an account in which they can process orders via credit card or bank direct deposit.
Valuables and Sporting Equipment
The College cannot be held responsible for valuable items that go missing or are damaged at school. This includes jewellery
outside our uniform guidelines, money, any toys or personal items from home. Sporting equipment brought from home must be
clearly labelled. If it is lost, the College will do all it can to find the item, however will not be held responsible for lost items.
Mobile phones
The College has strict guidelines for the management of mobile phone usage by students. Mobile phones are not necessary during
the school hours and will be confiscated for a period of time if a student is found in possession of a phone. during. Phones must
be dropped off at the College reception upon arrival to school and can be collected at the end of the day. Primary school students
are not permitted to use any personal devises or mobile phones during the school day unless under the direction and supervision
of the class teacher. Such devices are not permitted to be used by students at recess or lunch under any circumstances. Electronic
devises and mobile phones are not permitted to be taken on excursions or camps.
If a student is found inappropriately using a mobile device during the school day, it will be confiscated. The phone will be labelled
with the student’s name, placed in a storage bag and returned to the student at the end of the day as determined by the Head of
Campus. A repeat offence will result in the College contacting the student’s parents regarding the use of mobile device issues and a
relevant consequence will be applied.
Any student found using electronic devices inappropriately, such as for the purpose of bullying (including cyber bullying),
accessing offensive material on the internet, or taking inappropriate/unsolicited photographs, will receive serious consequences as
outlined in the Behaviour Management Plan.
School Banking
Students are encouraged to become a part of the school banking program – provided by the Commonwealth Bank. Children can
bank as little or as much as they wish. It is the process of putting aside some money each week and watching their bank balance
grow, that encourages lifelong positive saving habits. Please see the College office for further details.
Parent Volunteer Hours
Families are encouraged to complete a minimum commitment of 10 hours for the year. We will provide a “Parent Volunteer Hours”
form for each family and this can be signed off by a staff member each time hours are served. This will need to be lodged during
Term 4 and families will then be reimbursed the full amount of $350. You are welcome, of course, to complete additional volunteer
hours. All completed forms are to be submitted by 30th November to the office and signed off in order to be processed as
completed. Should you prefer, you may opt to pay $350 in lieu of the 10 hours of service commitment, this fee will then be charged
through FACTS.
The College appreciates that parent involvement is a joy for some but can be difficult for others depending on their availability and
work commitments. Given that not everyone can contribute to the needs of the College with a traditional working bee approach,
alternative community involvement opportunities will be offered during the year which will be of great value to the College. Parent
involvement at Wyndham Christian College will be encouraged as it provides some great benefits:
» Increases the awareness of the needs of the College
» Establishes a sense of belonging and service to the wider College community.
» Provides the opportunity to build relationships with other College families.
» Can significantly reduce maintenance and other staffing costs to the College, in turn, assisting to minimise fees.
Some of the various ways that a family can contribute include:
» Assist with College Community events
» Practical assistance, working bees, maintenance etc.
» Resource preparation, book covering, laminating etc.
» Excursions, camps etc.
» Sports & special events and incursions participation
